Epson Stylus PHOTO R220 review

Epson Stylus Photo R220

The Epson Stylus Photo series has gained a good reputation in recent years in producing high quality photo images, with a good range of both hardware and software extras to appeal to both home users and regular business users.

The Epson Stylus Photo R220 is directly marketed at the low end of the spectrum, with a highly competitive price and a CD tray for those who want to preserve their photos in formats other than paper. It takes up quite a bit of space on your desktop, but it has a stylish silver and grey casing and weighs a pretty lightweight 5.17kg. It's easy to set up and has the useful advantage of possessing six individual colour cartridges which can be separately replaced when they run out, rather than having to shell out for an all-in-one colour cartridge.

Photo print quality is admirable, being based on the company's MicroPiezo technology which delivers a maximum resolution of 5760 x 1440 dpi (dots per inch). Coupled with Epson's Variable Size Droplet system, this gives sharp and vivid colours. However, the quality of text reproduction is not so impressive, which will not brighten the lives of those who want to use this as a multi-format machine.

In my opinion this is one of the better printers on the market it comes with the CD tray printer for printing straight onto CD's to give them that authentic look and also gives high quality photos with borderless printing available. prints fairly slow printing at only 15ppm text and a whole 57 seconds for a high quality image but is worth the wait for the great qaulity images it produces. excellent for home use and printing off those family pictures.

This printer uses ink cartridges Epson T0481 Black, Epson T0482 Cyan, Epson T0483 Magenta, Epson T0484 Yellow, Epson T0485 Light Cyan, Epson T0486 Light Magenta

Perhaps the best reason to buy the R220 is to print on optical discs, a relatively rare feature for this class of printer. It would also serve you well used as a quality photo printer. In conclusion, this is a good all round printer and excellent value for money.
